Abacus Education

The Abacus was an ancient calculating machine, invented centuries before the modern day calculator. It was initially used for counting and calculating purposes. After so many centuries of research it has become a tool for the whole brain development.
Our syllabus achieves this by activating
left and right hemispheres of the brain and combines logical skills (memory, grammar, detail orientated, structured and perceives pattern, reality based) and creative skills (multiple intelligence, listening skills, imagination, photographic memory, self confidence)

The natural brain development is at its peak between the ages of 3.5 and 14 years. By the time the child reaches 17-18 years 80% of the mental growth is already over. Hence our course is aimed at the 3.5 and 14 year olds so that maximum neurons (brain cells) can be stimulated and activated within this age group.

According to Professor Eyesnok of University of London “…any child which has proper mental formation before the age of 16-17 years can remain brilliant as long as 70. If its otherwise lacking, the brain ability may decline as early as 20-30 ….”

The course is about Abacus education. We use numbers 0-9 and the abacus as the prime tool to develop the mental abilities of the child. This is not a mathematics course! We are simply using the child’s abiity to do mental arithmetic to increase the productivity of the brain and to enhance mind power. Hence we not only guarantee improved results in Mathematics but in all subjects.

VAK learning

Most children generally tend to predominantly process information in one of 3 ways – visual, auditory and kinaesthetic. Some aspects of learning styles may represent strong inherent preferences, but all children can benefit from multi sensory approaches to learning. Schools tend to emphasise the visual and auditory rather than the kinaesthetic. Teachers cannot offer every child their preferred learning styles at all times.

Brainobrain Jumeira aims to activate all three senses together:

Visual – children prefer to see information: they like reading text or looking at diagrams. Hence at the initial stage children will be provided with an Abacus to visualize the movement of beads and then at an advanced level this would be taken away. The child would then be trained to be able to visualize the movement in their brains, stimulating their photographic memory. Thanks to Brainobrain, most children have found to be achieving higher grades in MOST school subjects within a period of 6 months, or 2 levels or as soon as.  In other words a child who is scoring an average of 40% prior to Brainobrain Jumeira can potentially double this result with the right training.

Auditory – children prefer to hear information: they like listening and talking.
Hence in our programme BRAIN GYM, rhymes and “magic” words are used to combine together with the movement of beads to enable complex calculations to be performed.
In National Competitions children commonly complete upto 60 sums within 83 seconds across all ages – just take a minute to imagine how amazing that is for a 5 year old to do !!!

Kinaesthetic – children prefer to learn by doing: they like moving, manipulating and touching. “…The child is trained to memorise the abacus moves in their muscles so that the abacus itself becomes redundant. And in so doing they are also learning how to use their whole body to learn and simultaneously build motivation, a sense of competition and a belief in themselves…” Sue Knight NLP UK.
Numerous parents have expressed their gratitude to the Brainobrain faculty for not only improvements in National Curriculum but also in the attitude, confidence levels, concentration spans, attention to detail and are found to be conversationally articulate.
